Welcome to Captain Chaney's Nautical services,
Here is how to get your Captain license, take 3 USCG test consisting of navigation general & chart plotting, deck general, rules of the road. Show sea time on a body of water (lake, river, bay, inter coastal water way = inland, out to 100 miles off shore = near coastal, great lakes= great lakes) on a vessel that you own or have served on and have the owner of the vessel fill out and attest to that service. You will need 365 days for a OUPV (6 pac) with 90 days current within the last year, or 720 days for a master with 90 days current with in the last year. Pass a USCG physical, drug screen, and have cpr & first aid, pass a homeland security back ground check, be 21 years of age or older no cap on the age limit. Theres more to process so if your not discouraged at this step you proceed to the (REC) regional exam center near you to process your paperwork.
There are Federal regulations know as US title 18 cfr 46 and cfr 47 that cover maritime licensing and collision avoidance. (note cfr stands for code of federal regulation,) this is a must know section just like having your motor vech. license knowing the laws to drive a car this is the same but pertaining to water navigation and safe operation of a vessel.
I offer a 57 hrs course covering the topics required to pass the USCG exam requirements to obtain your ouvp license (6 pac) this is done 2 ways
self paced or a set 9 day course contact me to schedule the way you want to do this.
Course fees, $699.00 this covers the oupv course, materials, and exam.
The master course is 20 hrs the cost is $300.00 this covers the course, materials, and exam.
